After using and loving this product for the last 3 years on my most recent purchase i found after using the new bottle for 3 days my skin was in an unbelievable state - red incredibly sore and covered in a rash. It took weeks of prescribed cream to get over. I have read other reviewers have experienced the same problems. I am very disappointed that there was no warning of ingredient change.

As per some of the most recent feedback, I noticed a change to the formula in my latest bottle from the smell and after 3 applications my skin is sore, itchy and burnt. This morning had to send husband out to get anti-histamine cream as my eye was half closed when I woke up and the pain unbearable. I have compared the ingredients on the old and new bottles and they ARE different. I have used the gel for 10 years and it has been brilliant, its pretty irresponsible of Dermalogica to change the formula without any warning label on the bottle, knowing that many of the users have sensitive skin. There are similar comments on their main website and they are now not accepting new reviews which suggests they are aware there is a problem. I have written to Dermalogica Customer Services and am currently awaiting a response.

Just read Emily and Liza's comments and am mortified. I had to go to the dr's to get some special cream as I kept having a breakout of spots on my chin. They woudl just not go away (4 months!!) never suffered with this ever in my life. Would never have put it down to this product may am now wondering!! time to change I feel

I have used this product for the last 13 years. NOTHING ELSE COMES COSE to its laasting effects. People think I am in my 40's.....I will be 61 in March 2013. I paid much more before I discovered BEAUTY FLASH and I wouldn't buy from anywhere ese, if I run out it's at my door in a couple of days. I've often struggled with my complexion, suffering from blackheads and breakouts. I received this product as a christmas present and I can already see great results. I use the pre-cleanse prior to the cleansing gel and I have already noticed a clearer complexion with my blackheads being dramatically reduced and my skin has been left with a healthy glow. I have also used the Dermalogica exfoliator three times a week. This product will always have a place in my bathroom cabinet!

I bought this as a Xmas present for my daughter as she has been using this product for years. However when she used it this morning her skin was immediately red,itchy and bumpy. This was very distressing and actually is still red 7 hours later. I find that it is unreasonable for dermalogica to change ingredients in a long standing product and not to inform customers. My daughter has been using this for years as it suited her skin. She took several photos of her face and neck and you'd think she'd been scalded.

I have used this product for two years, I do not have sensitive skin. This month bought a new bottle, have had an allergic reaction to it, on steroids no to sort my face out, absolutley disgucted. My face is like sandpaper its that dry. So glad to see its not just me, what do people suggest we do

I have used this product for years and always found it to be excellent, however I have just bought a new bottle and within 3 days I have a very sore, burning and itchy face. I honestly cannot believe how amazing my skin is with this cleanser.
I have always used Dermalogica, but have never tried this before. After undergoing treatment on Roaccutane twice for my acne, I decided to give this a go as it came back again. I wish that I had tried this before Roaccutane, as my skin looks and feels fantastic!!!

I had really bad acne at the age of 23; I had so many spots my face used to ache. I was put on Roaccutane by my dermatologist and had lovely skin for a few years. Then in my late twenties the spots started creeping back. I decided to give the Special Cleansing Gel a go and it’s amazing! I now have about 1 spot a month, if that! I find it works even better when I use it along with Active Moist moisturiser. It lasts for AGES, so although it seems expensive it’s actually pretty cost effective. I bought a 500ml bottle in January and I expect it will last me till the end of the year. It foams up to a rich lather and my skin feels really fresh and tingly afterwards. I will never use anything else!

Amazzzing product...I wish someone would have told me earlier about this cleanser...I can see a major difference my skin looks brighter clearer. I can actually walk out without make up feeling confident. If someone told me about Dermalogica sooner I dont think I would have ended up with my ex husband....single again and confident!!!

I am 33 and have suffered with bad poor skin most of my life. Strangely I had nicer skin when I was a teenager. I have spent a small fortune from over the counter remedies to very expensive ones - all to now avail. This product actually does what it says!!! This stuff has saved my skin! I've tried everything and even at the grand old age of 27 I still had the skin of a teenager. Break outs (mainly my chin and cheeks), oily t-zone, make up sliding right off etc. My skin got irratated so easily so I was using the most basic of products (simple) but it still wasn't working. This got recommended to me by a friend (along with the active moisturiser) and I've been using it for a month now. Within a week I saw huge improvements and now I have absolutly no spots, and 99% clear skin. I'm delighted. My skin is never tight or sore and everyone comments on how massive the change has been. It's so mild but still strong enough to take my foundation etc off at night. I'm never switching!!!! xxxx

This face wash is great, it cleanses without disturbing the skin's natural moisture balance which is perfect for my combination skin because I get a thorough clean without that tight feeling afterwards. I also love the pump bottle for keeping in the shower.

I have problem skin and I'm always trying to find a "cure" but I always keep coming back to Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel although it doesn't "cure" my skin completely - It's the only product that comes close. My face always feels so clean, and my breakouts are far less frequent.

This is a great cleanser, I have combination skin and a lot of cleansers in the past (cheap and expensive ones) have done nothing except irritate my skin. However the Special Cleansing Gel is gentle enough for me to use everyday with no problems whatsoever. Skin feels clean and smooth after use and even more so when used in combination with the pre-cleanse oil. I would definitely recommnend this product to anyone who likes a good cleanser to do exactly what it says on the bottle, and not cause any irritation.

I qualified as a beauty therapist many years ago (but now have a different profession) and was trained briefly in Dermalogica. I can honestly say I can not rate any other product as highly as this. It's so gentle, yet has such incredible cleaning power and with just a tiny amount, so the bottle lasts for ages. My skin feels amazing after this. Absolutely fantastic! As a student a good cleanser to combat skin problems is hard to come by, but this one keeps up with my dry skin and doesn't break the bank as it lasts about 5 months at a time! This product is certainly worth every penny, it removes make-up easily and cleans pores, while also refreshing me in the morning. I will never use another cleanser, it's great!

I have suffered from bad skin most of my life and tried almost everything. Thinking I just had oily teenage skin I would use anything that promised to dry my skin. When I went for a Dermalogica facial I was told I was using the wrong products and over drying my skin causing more breakouts! I now cleanse with the Special Cleansing Gel and moisturise using Active Moist morning and night and my skin has never looked better! The only downfall is the price. But this is the cheapest I've found it and even the smaller sizes last for ages!

Been using the product for over 3yrs, it works pefectly on my skin...it leaves it nice and clean without making it dry. 500ml lasted me almost a year, it's good value for the size.

This product is fantastic! It thoroughly cleans the skin without leaving it dry and tight. My skin doesn't get oily thoughout the day when I have used it. I would reccomend this to anyone.

BRILLIANT product - it thoroughly cleans skin without it feeling dry, irritable, sore or uncomfortable. I would recommend this product (along with all other Dermalogica products) to anyone who has an 'issue' with their skin - be it dryness, acne, sensitivity etc... the best products going.

Cannot live without this, Not only does it clear away all traces of make up, whenever I feel a spot coming on, a quick cleanse with this and the spot just disappears.
