Detox your skin this new year

Detox your skin this new year

Start your year with new and detoxed skin. Did the festive season take a toll on your skin?

With a combination of too much food and alcohol, lack of sleep, stress and all that extra makeup/ product from numerous parties it is time to strip it back and detox your skin. All these factors combined can clog pores, cause breakouts, cause dehydration which will make the skin look tired and dull. Now it is all over you have chance to give your skin a rest and get it back to normal.

Detox your skin. Start by clearing your skin from build-up. De-clog your pores, get rid of dead skin and start the year with a fresh face. Apply a detox mask, pick something that will dig deep and clear the skin of impurities and build up. The Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Masque helps detoxify, brighten and invigorate all skin conditions, with ingredients such as sulfur, volcanic ash, different acids, niacinamide and Chilean wild mint to improve skin smoothness. –

If your skin still needs some extra TLC, exfoliate. This will remove all old and dead skin cells from the outer layer of skin and will instantly leave fresh, glowing skin which makes you feel instantly clean. The Dermalogica AGE Smart Daily Superfoliant will remove pollutants and leave you you’re your smoothest skin ever, and helps fight the biochemical and environmental triggers known to accelerate skin ageing. Deep pores cleanse to help remove pollutants trapped in the skin. An exfoliation and anti-ageing product in 1!

Keep a simple skin care routine until your skin is back to normal.

Strip it back to basics with your skincare routine. Remove all your makeup then follow with your favourite cleanser for extra clean skin, a double cleanse is a great way to leave your skin feeling squeaky clean and prepped for the following steps. Spritz your toner over your face to keep things balanced and is a great way to feel instantly refreshed and hydrated. Leave that to sink in then follow with your moisturiser of choice, get as much moisture in your skin as possible and it will help to look hydrated and semi- back to normal even if you aren’t feeling that way. Cleanse tone and moisturise.  Keep this up for a few weeks, don’t over complicate or over work your skin then you can begin to add treatments/ oils and serums when your skin is ready. When was the last time you kept it so simple?

Even if you aren’t feeling that fresh, revived you will certainly look it.

Makeup maybe needed to cover any dark circles or give the skin that extra glow. We recommend using light products such as BB creams, tinted moisturisers or even mixing a bit of concealer with your normal moisturiser for a tiny bit of coverage and maximum moisture. This will keep the skin looking fresh and youthful. If you do need to use your normal foundation/ base item which is a bit heavier which will not allow your skin to come through, try adding an illuminating primer under your makeup or mixed in with your foundation to make you look more alive. Also, by applying cream bronzers, highlights and blush will make the skin look dewy and like you’ve had 8 hours of sleep without being heavy and cakey like powder products can sometimes do. These makeup tips are also great when you are hungover and need to look a bit more awake and alive!
