Emmy fashion mixes things up

The celebs made their own trends this year.

The Emmy Awards (playfully called the ‘Pandemmys’ by host, Jimmy Kimmel) usually showcase a trend-fest with themes emerging and posh frocks brushing hems on the red carpet.

But this is 2020.

The largely video-based ceremony saw some celebs socially distanced at the event, but most took part from home. And being in their home environments gave them the opportunity to show off a unique style that had a genuinely fresh take on glamour.

Kerry Washington is clearly skipping fall and winter (who can blame her?), moving straight into spring mode with a fresh floral dress, chic bob and warm pink lips and blush. The drop earrings are divine with her short hair and this dreamy dress allows her skin to glow. All the love for this look.

Reese Witherspoon proved that posing in your garden can be just as glamorous as a red carpet moment. Red lips, fizz, plunging neckline, figure-hugging gown….all the classic red carpet trappings. But there’s something about the LBD (which finished above the knee) and that casual side part that lets you know Reese is chilled out and having fun in her backyard.

And it really was Zendaya’s night. She collected her Emmy award for Best Actress in a Drama Series – the youngest winner of this category in history – in a custom look that simply had it all. Oversize polka dots, bralette style top, hair piled high for uber-glam, mega drama on the eyes…an absolute goddess.
