How to take your makeup from day to night

How to take your makeup from day to night

If you are off out for after work dinner/ drinks or have been out all day and not had time to go home and freshen up there are a few tips and tricks you can use to vamp up your day time look to make it look  a little extra glam and make you feel ready for a night out with minimal effort and time required.

When getting ready first thing you may be in a rush and only have time to do the basics however, by prepping your skin properly first thing in the morning can set you up for a good makeup day and will make it easier to apply additional products later in the day. Make sure your skin is well moisturised, so it stays hydrated and fresh looking all day. This will also help makeup to apply smoother and easier. Choose a primer that will benefit your skin whether it is to minimise pores, add hydration, colour correct, smooth the skin etc. This will ensure your makeup applies nicer on your skin, your makeup will last longer and will make any other base products look better.

To amp up your look you will want to choose a few products that are multi-tasking so you don’t have to carry around your whole makeup bag!

Here are a few products that we suggest to glam up your day time look;

  • A bronzer/ contour powder
  • A highlight
  • An eye liner
  • A lip product of choice with colour
  • A few makeup brushes

A bronzer/ contour powder can be such a versatile product and can make a huge difference to your skin and finished look. Apply the product in the hollows of your cheeks and around the hair line to create a more chiselled/ bronzed look. Then take the bronzer on a shadow brush and apply it to your eyes in the crease and on the lower lash line. This will create the easiest and quickest smoky eye without hours of blending and will match all the other bronze tones on your face perfectly!

Adding a highlight is going to make any makeup look more night time appropriate. We all know to apply the highlight on the high points of the face, tops of cheek bones, brow bone and cupids bow however, we can add a highlight to the eye lids as a shimmer eye shadow and on the inner corner of the eye which will make you look instantly more awake.

An eye liner can’t be used in too many ways on the face however, it can make any day time look instantly more glam and suitable for night time. Take a black or dark brown liner and apply it along the upper lash line on the outer corner. This will create a super simple mini cat eye/ winged liner and add some extra smokeyness and definition to the eye look created already with the bronzer.

Finally, add a lip product. any lip product of your choice will work for this step.  Whether it’s a lip stick, gloss, liner of even a balm. Adding a simple lip product will help the whole face to look complete.  If you have gone lighter on the eyes and kept the rest of the face simple then a bold red lip will make you look super glam instantly or even a tinted balm just to add a hint of colour and shine to the lip.
