White sand, white-hot weather and white bikini: the stars are embracing a natural look and all-white swimsuits this summer
Holiday season is here. If you’re looking for a strong look to rock on the sand, be inspired by some of the world’s most glamorous women. From Kendall Jenner to Ashley Graham, the A-list is turning to crisp white swimwear this summer.
A white bikini isn’t the easiest thing to wear. It’s rather unforgiving in terms of your complexion, so if you have fair or dull-looking skin, now is the time to polish up (with a combination of gentle, dry skin brushing and thorough exfoliation) and self-tan.
Once your skin is looking flawless, you’ll need to think about your hair and make-up. A white swimsuit can drain your face, so you might find that clever “natural” make-up (with a high SPF), and defining your brows, eyes and lips, works best. Or, you can go for a more obviously glam effect with either colour pop lips or dramatic eyes as a contrast to the pure white of your swimming costume. Avoid doing both: strong eyes and lips usually look over-the-top on the sand.
Go for “straight-out-of-the-sea” slicked-back, or marvellously messy, beach hair when you’re wearing white – there’s something playful and ultra-fashionable about the contrast of white swimsuit and carefree hair. But accessories can really lift the look: consider layering necklaces, try drop-earrings and choose sunnies that make a massive statement.
