Prolong your lovely holiday tan

Prolong your lovely holiday tan

Have you just been on holiday and now have that beautiful natural glow that only the sun can give you? Are you now back in England wondering where the Summer has gone? If you want to keep your holiday tan for as long as possible and hold on to those wonderful memories of lazing by the resort pool and feeling the sand between your toes on the beach, then we have the answer.

Moisturise your skin:

Moisturise, moisturise, moisture! Dermaogica Body Hydrating Cream is a super rich moisturiser that will help with this. There is no such thing as too much when it comes to keeping your tan in place. Make sure that your skin never gets the opportunity to become dry because once the peeling starts, it will never stop.

Go Easy On The Hot Water:

Long hot baths and showers can dehydrate your skin, so stick to cool water and use a hydrating shower cream or oil instead of a more drying gel or foam.

Exfoliate Very Gently:

Yes, you still need to exfoliate – dead skill cells can actually make the skin look duller and less glowy – but do so very carefully to avoid scrubbing away your tan. Using something like Spongelle is perfect! Exfoliators with glycolic acid and salicylic acid will cause your tan to fade, as will hair removal lotions and waxing – basically they remove the top layer of skin, the tanned bit – so steer clear for now.

Drink Lots Of Water:

Staying hydrated is essential for good skin health, cell turnover and everything else associated with keeping a radiant, golden glow. The same goes for a healthy diet, especially foods rich in beta-carotene – think papaya, carrot, sweet potato and mango.

Top it up:

Fake tan is much easier to apply when you already have a tan – the chance of starkly orange elbows and knees is lower when your skin already has a glow to it. One of the best products for this is using a build up product and then the tan will continue to keep it’s natural appearance. Decleor Aroma Confort Gradual Tan Body Milk is one of the best selling gradual tan with a beautiful scent to it and natural colour.

Wear White:

And lot’s of it! This will offset your tan and make the glow more prominent. Bright Nail varnishes will also bring out the tan on your hands.
