Race Day Prep

Race Day Prep

Racing season has kicked off. The 1st June was the opening of the Epsom Derby and next week we have Royal Ascot then throughout the summer months there will be multiple races and days out and we want to help you get prepared!

Even if you aren’t a fan of horse racing and have no idea what’s going on it is still an opportunity to dress up and look the part and spend the day living and looking a little Royal!

Face- Your Skin care prep will be important as it’s going to set your face up for the whole day. Stick to your normal routine and what you know what works for you. You don’t want to try something new and risk it not reacting well to your skin.

SPF. Don’t forget. June in the UK there may be a chance of sun (fingers crossed) and you will be outside all day. SPF is an absolute essential. We love the – Medik8 Physical Sunscreen. A high-performance SPF 30 sunscreen providing powerful broad-spectrum protection from UVA and UVB rays.  Physical Sunscreen works by reflecting the suns radiation away from the skin.

Apply a primer before any base makeup as it will help to keep your makeup in place all day. Find one that works for your skin type and that will help you achieve the look you are going for i.e. mattifying, glowing, pore filling etc. We love the Amazing Cosmetics Line Smoother and Primer as it is a multi-purpose product that firms, hydrates and preps skin for make-up whilst reducing wrinkle depth and fine lines. For hydration we love the Dermalogica Hydrablur Primer as it offers three benefits in one formula – intense hydration, neutral coverage and pore-refining properties.

This is the time to whip out your best makeup and get glam for the day. Be sure to get your face with a setting spray and this again will help your makeup to last and you may even want to pack a blotting powder to touch up through out the day!

You want to feel and look your best therefore you may want to get your tan on to help you look extra summery. The St Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse is super-lightweight, easy-to-apply, velvety mousse delivers the ultra-even all-over tan. For a lighter tan we love the Fake Bake Fair Gradual Self Tan as it is a gradual moisturiser and will help you to have more control over the tan you are applying. If you have lots of body parts exposed then don’t forget to apply SPF to your body too! Dermalogica Protection 50 Sport SPF50 is a water-resistant, broad spectrum sun protection. This sheer solar protection treatment defends against prolonged skin damage from UV light and environmental assault.

Hair – you will want to hold your hair style in place all day no matter what it is. Adding texture to your hair will help to hold any style and keep it in place the Loreal Professionnel Tecni Art Constructor will add texture and hold whilst offering heat protection, ideal for those using styling tools. A texture spray will also help to keep any hair grips/ hair accessories in place, a must have for ascot. Follow with a hair spray to lock your style in and make it last all day. The Alterna Caviar Anti Aging Extra Hold Hairspray is a great one for all day events as it is a quick drying aerosol spray that gives styles ultra firm control with performance flexibility. Provides superior all day, humidity- resistant hold without stiffness or flaking.
