Jen’s beauty secrets

Jennifer Aniston has shot a stunning selection of covers for InStyle’s October 2019 beauty issue – and she has never looked more gorgeous: here’s the lowdown on Jen’s ageless beauty

Over the years, the actor Jennifer Aniston has not only gone from beautiful to off-the-scale-beautiful, she has also let us in on some of her beauty secrets.

Last year she told Refinery 29 that she has a very simple and consistent three-step beauty regime: “Cleanser, serum, daily moisturiser, which has to have sunscreen in it.” She referred to the benefits of “Greek genetics” but said that taking her mum’s advice has played a big part in her skincare routine. “I’ve…always taken really good care of my skin,” she said. “It’s one of those things my mom beat into my head. ‘Take care of your skin; put on your moisturiser’.”

A laidback start to the day is another trick that may have given Jen her trademark glow. She says the morning is her “self-care time”, gearing her up for the day ahead. She told Shape.com that she meditates first thing, before she’s even had her first cup of coffee: “I’ll start with [meditation] to just kind of calm myself before I head out to exercise.”

Exercise is a big part of Jen’s life and no doubt contributes to her awesome figure and general wellbeing. Over the years she’s tried yoga, cardio, barre, strength training and spin classes. In February this year, her personal trainer, Leyon Azubuike, told Women’s Health magazine: “We box, we jump rope, we do strength training, we do a lot of work with resistance bands. We rotate these things so it’s always hard, she’s consistently being challenged – I’m a big fan of switching things up, so the body reacts in a positive way and changes.”

Jen is no fan of society’s obsession with age. In 2017, she told Allure magazine: “I really wish we could shift our perspective on [ageing] as a negative, because it’s happening to every single one of us. We just need to be very good to our skin – just take very good care of it. Keep it healthy, and keep it tended to – as we tend to our cars, as we tend to our appliances, as we tend to everything else we tend to.”

And in 2015, she told Elle magazine that the one beauty fad she’d never succumb to again is bleaching out her eyebrows – as per the iconic cover shoot she did for Cosmopolitan magazine in 1997. “It was a real look in the 90s,” she said, “and it looks gorgeous if you’re Linda Evangelista. I was so new and naïve in the business, I didn’t know that I could say ‘no’. I had to paint in my eyebrows for three months with brown shadow.”
