Spring glamour

Three of our fave 2019 red carpet looks provide the perfect inspiration for your spring wardrobe

Hair to match

Lady Gaga’s Cinderella moment at the Golden Globes didn’t stop at the powder blue Valentino dress with enormous train: she coloured her hair to match. Gaga is a fan of wigs, but fashion commentators reckon the colour was hand painted onto her locks for a Princess ‘wow’ effect. This fairytale look can be toned down for spring occasions, but it will always turn heads.

Consider colours including baby blue, coral and rose gold, using a wash-out colour on your hair and matching your eye make-up to the look.

Suit up

Letitia Wright looked effortlessly cool at the 2019 BAFTA awards wearing a white Stella McCartney suit. The trick is in the tailoring: the crisp two piece, with leg-lengthening turn-ups, gave Letitia an elegant yet powerful silhouette; the angular cut and oversized buttons provided a modern edge, perfect for a rising star. Silver accessories, blue eye shadow and natural hair complete the chic.

Stick to a suit this spring to make an impression at parties, events and cocktail evenings: don’t forget the stiletto heels for a retro effect.

Silver siren

Dua Lipa proved that silver rules the red carpet at the 2019 Grammys. The singer turned two Versace looks at the occasion: one was a tribute to Liz Hurley’s iconic ‘safety pin’ dress, the other was a sensational cosmic silver gown that will inspire a zillion spring outfits. Look for a silver skirt, top or trousers with a similarly glimmering effect to channel Dua’s foxy silver style.

The sharp bob haircut with a middle part is everything if you want to give your silver style a fierce update, a la Dua Lipa.
